Please note that wood products may exhibit varying numbers of staves due to the diverse thicknesses of lumber within each bunk and the final width of the product.

In the context of our Custom Stair Riser, “depth” refers to the vertical height of the riser when installed, measuring the distance between the tread above and below.
Meanwhile, “width,” often termed as the riser’s body, denotes its horizontal measure upon installation, corresponding to the width of your treads.
Additionally, “thickness” characterizes the robustness of the board. We offer three thickness options for custom risers to suit various project needs. For standard treads in new construction projects, we recommend a thickness of ¾” for added strength. When installing alongside replacement treads, either ¼” or ½” thick risers suffice, ensuring a sleek appearance without unnecessary bulk.

All risers and products intended for underfoot use are treated with Conversion Varnish—a robust and durable finish standard in the hardwood flooring industry. Our skilled team applies this specialty varnish to each stair tread using a spray applicator, ensuring uniform and impeccable coverage. This protective layer shields your risers from the rigors of heavy wear and tear, preserving their integrity over time.
